Makore Snare Drum

Seems like somebody is buying up all the Purple Heart at Windsor Plywood still. Honestly, this time around, there seemed to be less wood choices than before.

I grabbed a new wood called Makore. It feels pretty dense and heavy: a new wood to try out. This is why it will be the first of the two snare drums I will build.

It took a while to manage to order and receive all the hardware that I needed to finish the two drums.

The Makore wood almost has a Mahogany kind of golden tan colour to it. It did finish nicely.

This drum, the hardware is mostly from Ross Percussion: the lugs, tension rods, the strainer kit and even the skins. It is worth trying out some new venders. The hoops are WorldMax hoops.

With the previous issues I have had with installing the hardware, this time I made sure to do things proper. Last time I fogot that I had hole bits which helped out a lot this time around. The hardware install is very clean this time around.
