Padauk Snare Drum

Started on April 29, 2024: completed on May 29, 2024

This is the second of two snare drums that I will build side by side. There has been some interest in my snare drums recently so I decided to make a few more.

I should make another one out of Bubinga but the new wood that I purchased from Windsor Plywood may not even be usable.

This snare drum will be made from Padauk. I have used Padauk before for at least one guitar build. It has a nice shiny orange colour flesh to it. It has a nice bright and dark orange finish after French polishing it a few coats. The black grain that randomly runs through some of the staves add a nice accent.

The area where I stamped the logo went a little brighter in colour. This is most likely from the heat from stamping.

Some Ross Percussion hardware was used on this drum, a Pearl strainer kit, WorldMax hoops and Evans skins.
