One idea I have had for a while was a completely bevelled soundboard and back to sides join. I think visually it would be neat if done right. However, trying to figure a better method on the arm rest bevels that I have been doing on the last few guitars have been a challenge already. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Some ideas of how to go about this full bevel on the perimeter of the guitar body have come up but method that would look the best wouldn’t be cost efficient. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

With the bevelling now attempted, I can say that it didn’t turn out to how I was expecting it to be. It isn’t terrible but wasn’t quite what I was imagining. The bevel cut took off more than I was expecting and the procedure to go about it needs some thinking over. I believe it will be better with a some sanding after the body is complete.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With that, I will be using another set of the Spruce wood that I had acquired back in July. A set of Honduran Mahogany was chosen in the end. I was leaning a lot more towards Indian Rosewood since I don’t have a Parlour guitar made with it yet. But I was thinking in terms of the colours – using a darker colour wood to contrast woods that are paler in colour for the body.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The other half of the Sapele neck block will be used for this guitar. After taking a look at my list of fingerboard woods, I decided on Chechen Carribean Rosewood – this would be the first time I am trying it. I imagine that it would give the guitar some brightness with all the Mahogany already being used.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A Rosewood bridge was also chosen for this reason: to give the guitar some brightness over the Mahogany.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A volute will be carved onto the neck angle. Being new to trying the volute on the guitar neck, it is better to get some practice when I can.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Seeing how this guitar came together, there are some things that need to be changed on the approach for the next guitar that will have a full bevel. The time when the bevel will need to be changed to after the body and neck has joined. This would allow for an exact fit to the fingerboard and heel if that would be the target.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is the first guitar that is using recently purchased non-slotted bridge pins. It requires a little more slotting for the strings to go through along the tapered holes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
