I have had them for a while but will use Abralon sanding pads and sand paper mostly.

At first, I bought some fret erasers on Amazon – Baroque brand (Chinese brand). At the time I purchased them, it was $25.99 for the three – 180, 400 and 1000 grit. I will admit, I didn’t really know how to use them. I was taught a way to use them which was totally wrong in my opinion. But because of the way I was taught to use them, I was iffy about the use of them altogether

Eventually, I bought the Disco Stew set assuming the ones I had were of inferior quality. The Disco Stew set of 7 currently is $93 CAD. Sure, like anything that comes from Disco Stew, it’s more expensive. The grits in this set are 220, 400, 800, 1200, 2000, 4000 and 8000.

Recently, I have been comparing the two sets that I have – of course the ones of the same grit or similar. When you look at them, the Disco Stew ones have a harder feel and visually look like it may be a lower grit than stated (more especially the 400 grit eraser).

I first used the Baroque 400 and then the Disco Stew eraser. To my surprise, the Disco Stew eraser put new scratch marks on the frets and these were very visible to the eye. I switched back to the Baroque 400 and it took away what was left from the Disco Stew one.

I don’t think it would be a case in which the Baroque eraser was used a few times before and was “broken in” but I can say from that, I wasn’t very impressed with the Disco Stew eraser.

The Disco Stew erasers from 2000 grit and higher are softer so they don’t feel like they need any “breaking in” if that even makes sense..

If you are considering some fret erasers, the Baroque ones on Amazon are ok. Even with the highest eraser grit being 1000, it is good enough. I use diamond crowning files mostly and find that you don’t really need to use the 180 grit and can jump straight to the 400 eraser . If the set came with a 600 instead of the 180, it would be a really good set to pick up. And cleaning up the eraser bits is WAY better than the sand paper dust.

["post-2897","page","type-page","status-publish","hentry
["GET
